Leading payments platform, Wirex, has enabled Ukrainians living in the EEA access to the Wirex app and crypto-enabled card.

Ukrainians who have moved to Europe due to the war can use Wirex without restrictions, allowing them to buy, hold, exchange, sell and spend in traditional and cryptocurrencies and traditional money. Previously, this product functionality was only available to EEA citizens.

Wirex is a global licensed fintech company that allows users to exchange both traditional and cryptocurrencies, fee-free ATM cash withdrawals, and receive WXT rewards for every online and offline purchase made with their Wirex card. Ukrainians can download the application from the App Store or Google Play Store for free, where individuals need to show their current European address and verify their nationality by an international passport or ID card to be issued a Wirex debit card for free.

“The war forced almost 5 million Ukrainians to move to the EEA, including many from the Wirex R&D Centre. We want to show our support for those involved, so the company has expanded its services, meaning Ukrainians now residing in the EU can access Wirex’s products. This will allow them to pay for goods and services in traditional money and cryptocurrencies, automatically converting them into US dollars, euros, or local currency. For those still residing in Ukraine, regulations currently dictate that only the crypto functionality of Wirex is available, but recent changes in legislation give hope for development of the entire crypto and fintech sector of the country. At Wirex, we hope that the full functionality of our products, including the usage of traditional payments, will soon be available to all Ukrainians, not only in EU countries”, – says CTO Wirex, Head of Wirex R&D, Ruslan Kolodyazhnyi.
